Reports out of Chicago are the Cubs have signed top draft pick Brett Jackson. According to a report from MLB.com, Jackson will begin his professional career in Boise after he passes a physical.
No word when that will be, but Jackson should be with the Hawks by the time team returns from a five-game road trip. The addition of the outfielder out of Cal could be a big boost for Boise, which lost...read more

The Sacramento Bee's blog covering the Sacramento Kings reported new head coach Paul Westphal has hired his coaching staff. Absent from the list is Idaho Stampede coach Brian Gates.
There had been speculation Gates might be a candidate to join Westphal's staff as an assistant coach. Gates and Westphal share the same agent.

I talked to Gates on...read more

With their first pick in the 2009 amateur draft, the Chicago Cubs selected Brett Jackson. Jackson is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound outfielder from the Cal Berkeley who is said to have a nice approach at the plate and runs well.
Now it will be interesting to see how long it takes the Cubs to sign Jackson, and if he ends up coming to Boise when they do.
