The Idaho football season started Saturday, with a game a long, long way from here.

Blackfoot, the team that beat Nampa for the 4A championship, opened its season with a road trip to Juneau, Alaska. Juneau-Douglas had already played two games prior to Saturday's game, but somebody forgot to tell Blackfoot. The Broncos rolled to a 27-7 victory.

I received an interesting alert from the fine folks from Google late last night.

It turns out Birmingham High School (Van Nuys, Calif.) has received a transfer student from Boise. The Los Angeles Times' high school blog reported yesterday that Marquelle Henderson, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound defensive lineman, had transferred to the school. You can read more about it here.

After spending some of my summer perched in the press box at Memorial Field, I have found my way down to the field - the football field.
