It seems like the fall sports season just began, but in one sport the state playoff picture is beginning to take shape. Seven boys and seven girls soccer teams from District III have already punched their tickets to next weekend's state tournament. Over the next two days, three more boys teams and three more girls teams will qualify for state play-in games.

On the boy's side, Middleton and Skyview both make return trips to the 4A state tournament. The Vikings got in by way of a 3-2 win against Nampa, while Skyview topped Bishop Kelly. The Bulldogs and Vikings will play Thursday for the District Championship. A spot in the state play-in game is still up for grabs in the 4A with Emmett, Nampa, Mountain Home and Bishop Kelly all battling for that spot.

In 5A Eagle and Boise claimed spots in the state tournament on Monday, while Centennial and Borah joined them Tuesday. On Wednesday Mountain View and Caldwell will play for a trip to the play-in game.

Payette beat McCall 5-0 to clinch a spot in the 3A playoffs. The Vandals will get another shot Wednesday, taking on Weiser with another play-in spot on the line.

On the girls side, Boise, Timberline, Centennial and Mountain View have all wrapped up 5A playoff spots, while Borah and Rocky Mountain still have play-in hopes alive. Skyview and Bishop Kelly will be in the 4A tournament, while Mountain Home, Kuna, Nampa and Middleton all hope to claim the District III spot in the play-in game.

In 3A Fruitland punched their ticket, while Payette and McCall will play for a shot in a play-in game.

Soccer state tournaments kick off next weekend for both the boys and the girls.
