Well, summer is here and before you know it Idaho hunting seasons will be in full swing. I cannot believe how spring vanishes and if you blink winter will be setting in. I hope you have been taking part in all that Idaho outdoors has to offer. Turkey season is usually the start of the end for me. From then on it is a blur. After turkey season is salmon season. The Idaho salmon season was a bit disappointing. The fish were there, but accessibility was limited a bit. By the time the fish were here, the season was ready to close because the catchable quota was met. I always fish the Little Salmon near Riggins, and we had about 10 days of great fishing. The main problem was that everybody else was fishing the same stretch knowing it wouldn't be open very long. After Riggins, salmon fishing began on the South Fork of the Salmon. I had the same problem here. I like to fish up high, and by the time the fish were there so was the quota. I got the chance to crappie fish more than I ever have this year. Thanks to my buddy's boat my mom got to enjoy fishing for these delicious panfish. Then we fished for catfish. My buddy and I have had a ball catching cats this year. Not too many, but they have been fairly big

It is finally time to breath, but only for a couple weeks. Archery season starts at the end of August, and shooting my bow needs to be the focus. Oh and I volunteered to help coach my son's football team, that will make things tricky. This is looking to be a special year for big game hunting. My daughter passed her archery education class last night, so she will be with me this year. Even better is the fact that both her and I drew out for big buck tags in Unit 40. WOW! I have never drawn this tag, and my daughter and I put in for a group hunt and her first hunt with a rifle should be a good one. Now I need to find her a place to go. I haven't hunted the Owyhees in 10 years. Somehow I will need to fit fall steelhead in there.

I am glad my wife is understanding ... right hun?

Right Hon....... I just have 3 words to say to you!! Girl's Jackpot trip!!! Really - it is ok. I could have the alternative, which would be a non-providing Husband, and one who didn't involve the kids. Most importantly, I know that I am always invited to go should I want to. (Thank you for that!) Love ya!
