BOISE — Boise State redshirt freshman Drew Hawkins has decided to quit football after suffering a concussion last week.

Hawkins, the son of current Colorado head coach and former Boise State coach Dan Hawkins, has a history of concussions, and his family decided that it would be in his best interests, health-wise, to discontinue playing football.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released former Boise State quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie today.

Dinwiddie started the 2007 Grey Cup for Winnipeg and was 93-of-160 passing for 1,299 yards and five touchdowns with six interceptions last season.

CBSSports.com's Dennis Dodd, whom I recall standing next to on the field at University of Phoenix Stadium trying to interview Vinny Perretta minutes after the Fiesta Bowl, had some real nice things to say about the Broncos heading into this season.

Dodd not only says the Broncos deserve a BCS bowl, but also a national title shot with an unbeaten record.

The Boise State football team will have new uniforms in 2009, and there are a few big changes.

First of all, the home uniforms have a lot of blue, and the numbers are gray with an orange outline. It also says "Broncos" on the BACK of the jersey, with "Boise State" on the back of the leg. The away uniforms have "Broncos" on the front.
