Seemingly in every game this season, someone different has stepped up with a big game for the Boise State offense.

There was Jeremy Avery's 269 total yards against Fresno State, Doug Martin's 116 rushing yards and Tyler Shoemaker's 105 receiving yards at Bowling Green, Austin Pettis' 129 yards and two TDs against UC Davis or Matt Kaiserman's 122 rushing yards at Hawaii.

"Coach Pete always talks about carrying the flag," Kaiserman said. "If someone can't go or something, we have someone to step in their place."

Four different Broncos have run for more than 100 yards in a game and three different receivers have eclipsed 100 yards in a game. While that means depth is certainly there, it also creates chaos for opponents.

"One guy will have a good game, and the next week the other team has to account for that," Pettis said. "Then we'll have another guy step up and I think it will rotate like that."

With a defense focusing on a player or two, or with a player out with injury, there's always opportunity somewhere.

"Everybody who comes here works so hard, and the coaches always say we'll get our chance — you have to be patient, but it will happen," Shoemaker said.
