Boise State had six fumbles Saturday in its 54-9 win over Hawaii, and all were on snaps to quarterback Kellen Moore.

The most notable was when tackle Garrett Pendergast, stepping in for the benched Thomas Byrd, snapped the ball over Moore's head, resulting in a safety. Snaps had been an issue heading into the 2008 season, but seemed to have been fixed entering this campaign.

"We really felt like our snapping situation was much, much better until we get into the game and it rears its ugly head at the weirdest times," Boise State coach Chris Petersen said Monday.

Petersen said many of the botched exchanges have come when the Broncos are in the red zone, thus explaining some of their issues once inside the 20.

"We're going to work as hard as that as on any problem we've had around here," he said.

Boise State has scored 22 touchdowns in 39 red zone visits. Petersen said losing a down inside the 20 is a huge deal. As far as how to fix the snapping problems? Practice, practice, practice.

"Sometimes lapses in concentration is what I think it is - that's the bottom line," Petersen said.
