Forty yards may not seem like a long distance, but this past weekend at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, it's quick way to make some serious cash.

Take Chris Johnson for example. Last year at the Combine, Johnson ran his 40-yard in less than 4.3 seconds. His reward: Selected in the first round of the NFL Draft with a $12 million contract.

Many coaches will say, 'You can't coach speed...read more

So how big is the Boise State-Idaho men's basketball game Wednesday night?

Pretty big, especially for what Boise State has at stake for the rest of its season.

The Broncos already proved last weekend that they can compete with the WAC's best in an upset win over top-25 Utah State.

However, they also proved they can stumble in a bad loss — also last week — on the road...read more

Steroids, steroids and more steroids.

Enough already! I've been a baseball fan as far back as I can remember and even after all that has happened on the steroid front the past week — and few years for that matter — I'm still a huge baseball fan.

So A-Rod did 'roids? I wasn't surprised one bit. In my mind, I'm pretty sure at least 50 percent of players did them at...read more

The big joke around the office — OK, my big joke around the office —was how bad would Boise State's softball team be this season?

As many of you know, it's the first year for the team and its coach, Erin Thorpe. As many of you also know, it's not an easy task to start a team from scratch —especially at the Division I level.

I told many of the guys here in the office...read more

The recruiting game is dirty, we all know that, but Lane Kiffin may want to get the rules down before he tattles on a two-time national championship coach.

The player in question is Nu'Keese Richardson, a four-star prospect from Pahokee, Fla.

When Richardson was visiting Tennessee, he was called by Florida coach Urban Meyer.

The new Vols' coach didn't like that too much and told...read more

Even on the short end of Super Bowl XLIII, Kurt Warner still comes out a winner in my mind.

There's no doubt Warner has a legitimate case for enshrinement to the NFL Hall of Fame.

Here are a few reasons why:

— Three trips to the Super Bowl with one championship. Also, his three performances rank as the top three passing efforts of all time with a combined total of 1,156 yards.

Utah State is the WAC's first ranked team this season (AP photo).

I didn't think it would happen this season, but don't look now, Utah State has cracked the Top 25.

The Aggies (21-1, 9-0 WAC) busted into the Top 25 at No. 25 in The Associated Press media poll and at No. 22 in USA Today coaches' poll.

That's good news for the WAC, especially if the Aggies stay there for a few weeks. Normally, the WAC is a two-team league when it comes to talking...read more

Idaho's win Thursday night was good for its program, for sure, but one underlying repercussion may actually be that it was good for Boise State, too.

For Idaho, they outplayed the Broncos, had more emotion, and yes, a better crowd than what the Broncos can muster for home games.

If you read the Bronco message boards, many fans sarcastically push it all aside and note that at least it's...read more

I think the clich is something like this: Strike while the iron is hot.

That's exactly what the Mountain West Conference is doing.

Early Monday morning, USA Today reported on its Web site the MWC is making a push for the big time — a seat at the table among the elite of college football.

With the current Bowl Championship Series structure, six conferences are in the mix —ACC,...read more
