I've said it before and I'll say it again, the USA Today's coaches' Top 25 poll is a joke.

When I think about top 25 polls, there are a few criteria for teams deserving of the honor. How well have they played all season? Who have they beat? How did they win? How did they lose?

A three-point loss to a top 10 team (USC over Ohio State) may not be as bad as a seven-point win (Missouri over Bowling Green) to a team that was unranked.

But here's where the coaches got it wrong this week:

— Houston: The Cougars went to Oklahoma State and not only beat the then-No.5 team in the country, but did so by 10 points. So where is Houston ranked this week?

It is not.

Oklahoma State is at No. 17.

— BYU: These Cougars whipped Tulane a week after taking out Oklahoma. BYU is at No. 9. The Cougars should be ahead of at least California and LSU. The Bears have had two cupcake games, while the Tigers have been less than impressive in their wins over Washington (31-23) and Vanderbilt (23-9).

— Oregon State beat UNLV by two, the Beavers are ranked No. 24. Michigan beat then-No. 20 Notre Dame by four, the Wolverines are not ranked.

All polls are not bad, though, as The Associated Press seems to get it right, but it's the coaches' poll that is counted when it comes to the BCS.

The coaches are too political with their votes and should not have a poll.
