One of my favorite seasons has arrived. I don't celebrate fall, winter, spring and summer. I celebrate the seasons of football, bazaars, holidays, yard sales and gardening!
I've included a list of local bazaars and I hope you'll find time to visit a few of them. One of my favorites is the Trinity Lutheran bazaar that includes the annual pan sale. Pan sale? Yes, the school cooks buy their...read more

Alicia Yee, a student in my spring BSU news writing class, wrote a great story for her final paper. With the Cupcake Collective event this Saturday, she updated it and got the scoop behind the whole event.
It's a great story. I hope it inspires you to bake your own cupcakes to the event. Or at least to buy cupcakes to help with the fundraiser.
I plan to make cupcakes. I've spent more than...read more

Jayden L. Bennett from Kuna is a second-grader at Indian Creek Elementary.
If you have a pond, want a pond or love garden tours, check out this event. And if you want to help a 7-year-old who is battling cancer, here's another reason to check out the local ponds. The tour will be held 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It's self-guided and always a lot of fun to...read more

The local farmer's markets start soon, and I can't wait. It also means that the Idaho Press-Tribune's annual Plant Swap will be held between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in conjunction with Nampa's Farmer's Market held downtown near the Train Depot.
So, dig up your extra plants, put them in pots and get them ready for the swap.
I started digging excess plants on Saturday...read more

It's official. Our annual Plant Swap will be held at Nampa Farmer's Market on May 2.
It's a great event and gives people a chance to exchange their extra plants for items they don't have. It's pretty slick.
We begin at 9 a.m. — many people show up earlier — and end at 10:30. Once you get to the Farmer's Market.
Get your plants ready, so they are good and strong...read more

I just want to personally invite you to the Holiday Affair planned Saturday at the Nampa Civic Center. It starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 8 p.m. Plenty of vendors will be there including two of my favorite Diva stores: Classy Casuals and Idaho Bag Lady. But ladies, this is not just for women. There will be plenty for men (and women), starting with Harley Davidson products.
There's a fashion show...read more

The annual Potpourri Craft and Chocolate Affair is tonight and Saturday at the Nampa Civic Center. This is a must-attend event. And if you need kitchenware and pans, Saturday is the day to attend the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nampa because the school cooks are selling their favorite stuff. See details below.

I received this note from Karen Strickler and thought I'd pass it on. She'll be at the Farmers' Markets in Nampa and Caldwell passing out information. Here is what she wrote:
"Naturally, with a name like Pollinator Paradise, I would bee the one to point out to everyone that this week, June 22 – 28, is the second annual National Pollinator Week. The Pollination Partnership web has information...read more

A nifty Parade guide, with details about each house, can be found at the home. You can view the parade map here. I haven't seen any yet, but I hear they are worth seeing...read more
