Team: Oklahoma
Nickname: Sooners
Conference: Big 12 (South)
Location: Norman, Okla.
Coach: Bob Stoops (11th year, 109-24)
Last Bowl: 2009 BCS Championship
Last season: 12-2, 8-1
Big Game Bob and his boys lost their fifth straight BCS game in the national championship, losing to Florida. The Sooners return a huge amount of talent, with three possible top 10 NFL picks. An offense that averaged a record 51.1 ppg should be just as good, but has only one returning starter on the O-line.
The season is a success if ... The Sooners win a BCS game. The talent is there for Oklahoma, now is the time to end it on the right note.
The season is a failure if ... Texas beats Oklahoma on Oct. 17 in Dallas. Both are likely to be in the top five and the winner is likely on its way to the Big 12 title game.
Impact Player: Junior Sam Bradford, quarterback. The Heisman Trophy winner had 4,720 passing yards with 50 TDs and only eight INTs. Those are video game numbers that could be close to a repeat with two 1,000-yard backs and the nation's best TE returning.
Fun Fact: The Sooners have the NCAA record for most consecutive wins, notching 47 straight victories between 1953 and 1957. OU lost to Notre Dame 28-21 and tied Pittsburgh 7-7 to open the 1953 season. It was snapped Nov. 16, 1957 with a 7-0 loss to Notre Dame in Norman.
