Team: Oklahoma State
Nickname: Cowboys
Conference: Big 12 (South)
Location: Stillwater, Okla.
Coach: Mike Gundy (5th year, 27-23)
Last Bowl: 2008 Holiday
Last season: 9-4, 5-3
Last season was a huge success for the Cowboys, which Gundy parlayed into a huge new contract. However, they did lose three of their last four games, giving up 159 points in those losses. Still, no other team in the nation can boast the trio of returners OSU has at QB, RB and WR.
The season is a success if ... Oklahoma State can win 10 games for the first time since 1988. That likely would mean a win over Georgia, Texas or Oklahoma, plus a bowl win, but the Cowboys have long eyed 2009 as a big year.
The season is a failure if ... The Cowboys aren't at least competitive with Texas and Oklahoma. OSU has the difficulty of playing in the Big 12 South, and that means taking out two of the NCAA's top dogs.
Impact Player: Senior Zac Robinson, quarterback. The Colorado native had 3,064 passing yards and 562 rushing yards last season and was responsible for 33 total TDs. It could be better with Kendall Hunter (RB) and Dez Bryant (WR) back.
Fun Fact: Billionaire T. Boone Pickens donated $165 million to the school on Dec. 30, 2005, most of which was used to upgrade the stadium and the football team's facilities.
