It's been an ever growing trend at the College of Idaho — a long list of acadmeically outstanding athletes earning honors.

So this fall is no different as 34 student-athletes were named to their respective Cascade Conference All-Academic teams.

Just how does that rank against the league's other schools? Next closest were Corban and Concordia, with 23 and 22 respectively, while competing in just as many sports — men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, and volleyball.

Leading the way were the C of I runners as Stephanie Helm, Kayloni Jones, Molli Lee-Painter, Ashley Miller, Maggie Miller, Jena Sherrick, Kristine Smith, Stephanie Sparks, Tegan Troutner, Chantel Varland and Nikki Watson all were honored for the Yote women's team.

From the men's team, both Paul Sartin and Daniel Wenz were recognized.

The women's soccer team, which plays for its first trip to nationals on Saturday hosting Concordia at noon at Simplot Stadium, added nine All-Cascade Conference Academic Team honorees to the Yotes list — Anne Ball, Mandy Greif, Kelly Hardegree-Ullman, Justine Hawkins, Chelsea Heffner, Sadie Hughes, Jordan Huttash, Jessica Patton and Colleen Smith.

The men's soccer team had four honorees, James Collet, Emir Kobic, Aaron Reynolds and Trevor Spielman.

And the final eight Coyotes honored all play volleyball: Lauren Bourgeau, Courtney Combe, Mackenzie Crawford, Ciciley Fox, Bryanne Gribble, Naomi Reimer, Nikki Shumway and Melanie Stieg.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore standing and maintain a cumulative 3.2 grade point average.
